The photo below was one taken while Lewis was on assignment for the Arizona Daily Star newspaper in Tucson, Ariz. He was an intern reporter with the Northwest Metro Section. The event was a Women’s Roller Derby Team hosting a special “bout” or match to honor military members, veterans and their families. They also raised funds for the Community Food Bank. Lewis took photos and wrote an article for the print and online editions. He was originally hired to just report articles for the print and online sections, but he later asked editors if he could work on multimedia projects and cover different topics other than community features. As he produced quality work, his editors agreed to his vision to branch out to other reporting types.
